Concept Statement

“Wildflower After Midnight" draws on the hedonistic glamour of Cecil Beaton’s Bright Young Things and the faded romanticism of the American South, imagining a midnight garden party where wildflowers bloom in velvet shadows. The collection explores memory, history, and aesthetic decay through garments that blend Southern Gothic references and Edwardian style, and the influences of 19thcentury mourning attire with early 20thcentury couture silhouettes, reinterpreted via contemporary drape, bias cutting, and experimental construction. Distressed florals, cloudlike tulle, ruffled chaos, and crumpled cotton serve as narrative devices, while a palette of muted jewel tones, smoky neutrals, and dark florals evokes ephemeral beauty, nostalgia, and theatricality. Through its interplay of historical reference, materiality, and performative identity, the collection celebrates the allure of self-expression and the hidden intensity of character, like blossoms that reveal themselves only after the sun has gone down.
