“Green Area”
Concept StatementThis collection explores the essential truths of nature, balance, and humanity. Removing the notion that humanity and nature are separate and acknowledging the fact that the two are dynamically and intrinsically linked. Humanity and nature are polarized because of continuous technological and industrial advancements that drive a wedge between instinctual behaviors, building literal walls to maintain comfort and fragility. Spaces largely untouched by industry are generally perceived as chaotic or unkempt by modern eyes, but are maintained by the balance perpetuating cycles of life, death, and rebirth. This collection reads as a product of animal behavior, approaching clothing with a lack of restraint and instinct that looks to the land for inspiration. Plunging into themes of the body, sex, gestation, flesh, blood, life, and death, this collection shows the unstoppable force of nature's interaction with consumption of the product of human intervention.
