Artist Statement
In the mid-90s, as the film industry declines, Nawab, a 44-year-old filmmaker known for socially charged films, is forced into a commercial project under the illusion of creative control. He clashes with producer Rana (62), who demands a violent, exploitative scene. Actress Shafquat (29), misled about the film’s narrative, resists, while lead actor Shahid (56) arrives late, rushing his scenes. When Nawab sees Rana manipulating Shafquat into compliance, his resolve crumbles. Trapped in a system that stifles his values, he surrenders, betraying his principles in an industry where art is sacrificed for commerce.
