Brother

Cinema Art + Science

Project Statement

Brother is a fiction short film based on the real lives of LGBTQ people from post-Soviet countries who had to leave their families and places of origin to be themselves. Many of them are victims of intolerance, not only in a broad social environment but primarily in their families, among parents and siblings. Even after moving to other countries, many are afraid to be open.

Bringing this story to screen, we would like to reduce homophobia in oppressive regions of the world and encourage individuals to find a way to be themselves. Our project is a proof of concept for a feature film that would help us reach a wider audience, especially in post-Soviet countries where the issue is so urgent.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the production of Brother has been postponed. We are looking forward to bringing this project to life as soon as the situation is safe and filming guidelines are eased.
