Eternal Bonds

Concept Statement

This collection is born from a space between presence and absence, an archive of intimacy, endurance, and slow unraveling. Over the past two and a half years, as my father lived with cancer, I witnessed the body shift in silence and in fight. Our relationship deepened through gestures of care, long-distance phone calls while I was away at school, and the countdowns to each break when we could see each other again. This collection traces that tether between us: the unspoken strength, the weathering, and the eternal.

Denim, rugged and historically resilient, becomes the foundation. It is a material that holds weight and memory like the body does. Canvas, coarse and raw, evokes utility and labor, a nod to the everyday efforts of survival and love. Transparent lambskin, soft and hauntingly close to human flesh, exposes what is usually hidden. It serves as a metaphor for vulnerability, translucency, and the fragility of time. These fabrics are not kept pristine. They are distressed, abraded, scorched, and mended. Fraying seams mimic the slow breakdown of the body, while controlled burns and raw edges resemble emotional scarring. Stitching sometimes holds, sometimes falters, just like the conversations we had when words were difficult to find.

Silhouettes are structured yet imperfect, shaped by layering, asymmetry, and weight. Some garments cling like memory, tight and tailored, while others cascade with volume, mimicking the sensation of heaviness or emotional overflow. The structure of each look is built not just to wear, but to feel. Sharp where moments were tense. Soft where tenderness lived. Each piece shifts between containment and release, reflecting the instability of time spent waiting, hoping, and bracing.

The garments feel as if they have endured something. As if they have witnessed. They hang with weight and carry silence in their folds. Together, they construct a visual language of grief, love, and remembrance. This is a collection that does not seek to resolve loss but to honor the complexity of holding on.
